While running often feels like an escape from the real world, it too is subject to forces beyond our control. Due to the cancellation of the Tokyo Marathon mass participation event as a result of concerns related to the coronavirus, we have decided to forgo our plans to pop-up for the race. We design these activations as a celebration of the marathon and global running community, and without these pillars we’d be hard-pressed to continue.
We will move forward with our plans to release this year’s collection online at Tracksmith.com. Twenty percent of the profits from the sale of the collection will be donated to Direct Relief to support their work to provide personal protective equipment to health care workers in regions where there are confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
We look forward to popping-up in Tokyo in 2021 and wish all the runners impacted by the cancellation success in hitting their marathon goals this year, wherever that may take them. No training is ever in vain, and there are lessons to be learned no matter where, when or how those 26.2 miles are run.
